As a phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients for medical testing, transfusions, research, or donation. Your involvement is critical in assuring the correctness and integrity of the obtained specimens while also delivering a comfortable and caring experience for patients. You will collaborate closely with healthcare experts and laboratory personnel to assist the diagnosis and treatment procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Blood Collection: Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures to draw blood samples from patients using appropriate techniques and equipment.
2. Patient Interaction: Greet and communicate with patients, explaining the blood collection procedure to alleviate any anxieties and ensure their cooperation during the process.
3. Identification Verification: Confirm patient identities and verify relevant information, such as name, date of birth, and medical records, to prevent sample mix-ups.
4. Labelling and Recordkeeping: Properly label blood vials with patient information and relevant details, and accurately record the collected specimens for further processing.
5. Specimen Handling: Ensure proper handling and transportation of blood samples to maintain their integrity and avoid contamination.
6. Infection Control: Follow strict infection control procedures and maintain a hygienic work environment to prevent the spread of infections.
